How to Decorate Windows for Christmas with Rebecca - Kinwoven
BOOK A VIRTUAL CONSULT WITH REBECCA OR SHARRAH

Windows are such a great opportunity to create a magical and ethereal Christmas scene. There are so many ways to decorate your windows but I’m going to give you my best tips as I went through decorating in two different rooms in Sharrah’s new house in Tulsa.

Also, a special thank you to Shinoda Design Center for partnering with us and providing our decorations this year! If you haven’t heard, as apart of our online Kinwoven family you are able to shop Shinoda. You can see how by going to this post here!

1. Assess Your Situation

If you decorate windows that are going to be seen from the front of your home then you want to think about how you can be symmetrical. This year we decorated windows that don’t face the front and we didn’t need to think about keeping symmetry from the outside. You also want to think about what is going to suit your windows and space the best. Do you want to hang wreaths, garland, lights, etc.

2. Add Extra Lights

You know how much I love lights for Christmas time – the more the better. Even though we used pre-lit garlands this year, I still added more lights to them!

3. Add Picks

Using extra picks can bulk up your design and make it fuller and more impressive. If you’re using garland then you’ll want to think about what you want in the center. You’ll see that I had a bow in the center of these garlands and so I put a pick on either side of where the bow would be.

4. Use Your Natural Light

When choosing what I will decorate with I love working with the light that will naturally peek through the window. That’s precisely how I was inspired to use these red and clear icicles because the light would come in and bring them alive. Such a fabulous and dimensional sight!

5. Create a Focal Point

You want to create a balanced picture that keeps the eye moving to your beautiful window decor. For the sunroom this year it was as simple as having the couch centered and adding this adorable reindeer from Shinoda with a “scarf” that matches the bows on the window. It ties the whole room together and paints the perfect cozy Christmas scene that you can see as soon as you walk into the house!

I KNOW that a beautiful home has the power to change your life and we’re committed to doing that over on the Design Sessions. We’ve got over 19 sessions dedicated to helping you perfect your Christmas decorating!
